The Curiosity Club (TCC) is a maker space designed for young children to express their creativity and at the same time to explore concepts of things that they observe in their day-to-day life. Children are natural makers, and Early Childhood teachers have been providing opportunities to CREATE, ENGINEER & FABRICATE even before it was termed a ‘Makerspace’. What it really does is elevate the activity to another level, integrating art and craft activities with technology and other supportive tools and materials such as LEGO for ‘hands-on’ making. We live in a world that is become more and more technology driven and it is imperative that we embrace technology prudently and in the right spirit, to supplement the learning process.
The TCC makerspace isn’t just about playing. It’s about playing to create. The toys we provide are all designed keeping learning in mind, but without forgetting the FUN element. When children are having fun, learning becomes a by-product. At TCC, children translate abstract learning’s into concrete builds, they recreate real life objects with materials they are comfortable with, and most importantly – they innovate! What we do at TCC is allow more freedom and creativity there, provide more tools, bring technology in to make it relevant to the world we live in, and MOST IMPORTANTLY give them the chance to make mistakes while creating. We believe, it is not the outcome that matters, but the process that will make our children future ready.
We have after-school activities for children across several locations in Mumbai. Our programs are designed to cater to children between the ages of 3 to 10 years. To know more about our programs, click here.
Children also participate in international competitions such as the World Robotics Olympiad and the First LEGO League.
We also provide the same service to schools, to make this rich learning experience part of their school curriculum. We do this through our train the trainer model, or a full service model where we bring our team and material and conduct classes at the school.
We have designed our programs based on the following core principles
that we believe are key to the holistic development of children.
Our teaching concepts are based on four principles – critical thinking, communication, collaboration and creativity. At TCC, we believe that these 4 concepts are crucial to our lives in modern times. Inculcating these principles at an early age makes them an inherent part of the child’s personality and prepares him or her for this increasingly complex world. The class format at TCC encourages interaction among children of different ages which further develops their social skills.
Constructionism is an educational philosophy which states that learning can happen most effectively when children are involved in making tangible objects. It encourages the child to use what they already know to gain more knowledge. At TCC, we strongly believe in this method; our instructors take a back seat role and act as facilitators, breaking the traditional lecture or instruction based method.
From classrooms to tuitions or extra classes, all the learning for children today occurs through specific directions. While this works well for structured learning, the use of imagination and exploration in the learning process is curtailed. At TCC, we aim to break this pattern by providing the stimuli and then allowing the children to learn as they discover new ideas and solutions.
Children today are constantly being pushed to learn, to the extent where it has become a task and the fun aspect has drained out of it. At TCC, we aim to create an environment that is interesting and stimulating – a place which the children enjoy and look forward to visiting. A play-n-learn approach ensures that the child enjoys the learning process and embraces the activities with positivity and enthusiasm.
